studio non troppo : music : facilitation

Music, together

I find that conducting or coaching music ensembles has a lot in common with facilitation. Musicians with expertise in their own domains (such as oboe or violin) are trying to achieve something larger than themselves, and helping them do so is at the heart of my work as a conductor and coach.

Always attentive to interconnections, I hold the big picture in mind while attending to musical details and nuance. I specialize in working with ensembles of advanced amateurs, semi-professionals, and combinations of these, creating and holding spaces where we can explore and discover together.

Conducting & Coaching Experience

My experience spans orchestral, choral, and chamber works across a variety of styles and periods. I served as conductor with the Animas Music Festival in Durango (1997–2006) and coach regularly at Kammermusik Workshops in Santa Fe. I especially enjoy working with mixed chamber ensembles and small orchestras, bringing together musicians in collaborative exploration.
