The job probably isn’t what you thought it was going to be. You may have thought you were going to share ideas, solve problems, and create art. Instead, your time, concentration, and motivation are depleted as you attend to people with complaints and as you are peppered with interruptions throughout the day.
“That’s not my job!” we might say. Or, “That’s not what my job is supposed to be!” or “I didn’t sign on for this!” From what I can tell, this is a very common reaction to a very common experience.
After the realization and the reaction, though, a question comes up and sticks with you: “What do I do now?”
