Creating, together

Note: While I am transitioning away from active facilitation work, I remain interested in conversations about these approaches and ideas, which continue to inform my musical direction and philosophical writing.

Facilitation, process consultation, and organization development. These three terms highlight different timeframes (an afternoon, the everyday, the lifespan of an organization) and scopes (from immediate interaction to overarching strategy), but they have one thing in common: they are modes of helping.

What would it look like, if your organizational culture enabled fearless participation? If everyone in your group collaborated well amidst complexity, keeping both big picture and detail in mind?

When facilitating, I do not act in a director or content expert role. Instead, I work to be catalytic and supportive, helping groups do what they want and need to do together.

The values I bring to Studio Non Troppo are not “push-oriented”; I do not push services, ideas, or advice. Instead, I choose to help organizations by striving to be the most responsive, thoughtful, idea and inspiration resource possible.

These principles inform my approach to music conducting and coaching, as well. In both rehearsal and performance, I work to create and sustain an environment where musicians with individual expertise and skills can collaborate freely towards shared beauty.

I have a deep technical and artistic background and have worked with groups in the civic, engineering, and nonprofit spheres. If you would like to learn more about my facilitation work or explore how your organization might benefit from skilled facilitation, please email me.
